Today as I was looking through the Christmas pictures I decided to get together some tree pictures. We had some horrendous ones but when they were decorated we loved them all. The first is Suz with all the unbreakable ornaments on the tree just before it fell on her. This was a 1970 version taken in Mapleton, Me.
Then the picture of the Charlie Brown tree of 1975 which had gaps and was crooked. The kids got out their new Christmas crayons and color books and colored under the tree (except Mike who hated the feel of crayons). This one was on Tracy St.
Then we had the trees covered with tinsel and garland which I loved, with still a piece missing near the top. We went to Butlers Greenhouse and each picked out a decoration. WE still used homemade decorations mostly. This was in l984.
The one in 1989 was on Riverside Drive and was one of the prettiest and the others got better each year but Mike says a couple of them were as fat as they were tall. Such as 2001 and 2002. Anyway we loved them all and laugh at the Charlie Brown trees now.
Then we moved back to Augusta and had trees that were guarded by Malachi Murphy. This was taken in 2005.
All in all we had some pretty terrific trees in the eyes of the kids and because of that in our eyes too. We look back at them and see how ugly some of them were and laugh.
